Mission Trip to Washington in Jeopardy

Funds have been trickling in but we are coming up short with less than a quarter of the goal required for the trip. We only needed $2500 US to make this blessing a reality for our country with long lasting implications to the future of our nation. Even when the congressman or senator doesn't have any interest themselves in they see the value in providing a Godly atmosphere for their staff. The statistics alone speak for themselves. If we don't do this value added service who will?

Your prayers and gifts are appreciated. Any size gift would be greatly appreciated. You can also use an electronic check or credit card by calling me at 317-286-1117 or by using our online form. -TW

Mission
Trip to Washington DC 2007 - Ministering to our Leaders in our Nation's Capital

It's that time again to meet with members of Congress and Senate. In years past I have collaborated with George Roller, Director for the Center for Christian Statesmanship, a D. James Kennedy ministry. Through God filled circumstances while collaboration with George; I was able to address most of congress and many of their staff members and shared with them my story of healing and the way to finding Christ. I look forward to spending some time with George Roller while on this mission to see what it is God would have us do strategically together.

This year I will be greeting many new members . With new members it is a challenge even to set the first appointment. They wonder just what my agenda is. During our initial 45 min conferences I explain that I am there to pray for them, to lead others in our country to do the same, to help them provide bible studies for their staff and to provide additional mentoring care for their Pages from Godly Christians right there in our nations capital... well they are typically undone by my explanation and pleasantly surprised.

I can't begin to tell you just how much the return on this Godly investment has been but I assure you those who have helped in this endeavor in the past have a treasure to behold in heaven. This year’s trip will be on the week of Jan 15th - 20th. A team of intercessors are also desired and are welcome to join with me. See details below.

Your prayers and gifts are appreciated. The cost for this year’s mission trip to the US Congress is $2500. Any size gift would be greatly appreciated. You can also use an electronic check or credit card by calling me at 317-286-1117 or by using our online form.

Robert Stearns of Day Of Prayer For The Peace Of Jerusalem & Eagles Wings has invited me to attend the Gala Celebration in Washington, D.C. to honor the former Israel Ambassador to the United States, his Excellency Daniel Ayalon Ambassador and to welcome the new ambassador his Excellency Sallai Meridor and Mrs. Noa Meridoron on January 14th. President Bush will be the keynote speaker.

The Gala Celebration trip will cost approximately an additional $550.00 which includes the $250 black tie dinner on Sunday night at the Capital Hill Hilton. Please mark your gifts for either the Capital Hill Mission Trip or Washington, D.C. Gala.  Your gifts may be sent to Indiana National Day of Prayer, 865 Country Walk Court, Brownsburg, Indiana 46112-1770 with checks made to Tom Walker Ministries. As always your gifts are tax deductible. For more information see closing statement at the very bottom.

Come along as an intercessor or come as a leader in prayer & meet the members of Congress from your own State

Prayer will take place every morning and at each of the 9 members of congress and 2 Senators offices while there. We would also spend time together praying in the Senate and House Chambers, the Supreme Court and outside the White House. Intercessors will have enough time to take in the sites and museums of Washington DC. Call for details but understand hotels can be very costly in WDC. You will be responsible for your transportation, meals and hotel. I will gladly connect the team together so you can share transportation and other expenses.

May the Lord bless you and those you love,When its all said and done... it's about connecting peope to God

Governor's Appointment to OFBCI - A Year in Reflection

I am really charged . Not so much by my own personal achievements but by those of the team. Sure with so many high profile, busy folks you would expect the 80-20 rule to apply here to some degree but our last meeting for example we had 28 of our 40 members present. We have made some great accomplishments as a unit. The hard work is done by those in the Office of Faith Based & Community Initiatives.

They have a wonderful staff that knows how to make a great impact in a lean environment.

What OFBCI does

  • Serves as the liaison between the Office of the Governor and many of Indiana's community and faith-based organizations, volunteer centers, and corporate volunteer councils.
  • Coordinates OFBCI activities with those of any federally administered service programs to ensure that services are not duplicated.
  • Provides information, technical assistance, education and resource support to groups and organizations to improve and strengthen the State's volunteerism and community service infrastructure.
  • Administers Corporation for National and Community Service Programs through federal funds available under the National and Community Service Act of 1993. In that role, OFBCI and the OFBCI Board of Commissioners oversees grants in excess of $2 million dollars annually awarded to approximately 13 AmeriCorps State programs. These programs provide individuals the opportunity to spend a year serving in Indiana communities to address problems in the areas of human needs, education, the environment and public safety. Among other things, members of AmeriCorps programs tutor children in under-served schools, assist low-income residents to find housing, and organize neighborhood watch programs to make our communities safer.
  • Works closely with the Corporation for National and Community Service Indiana Office and the Indiana Department of Education, Office of Service-Learning, to connect the state's streams of national service (Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, and Learn and Serve America).
  • Applies for funding to the Corporation for National and Community Service and other entities that administer federal grants to support the objectives established by OFBCI for faith-based and community-based programs.
  • Promotes innovative and model programs and initiatives in order to share best practices among such groups and organizations.

The Faith-Based Advisory Council is...

An advisory group and members of the council are appointed by the Executive Director of the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives in consultation with the Governor.

The Faith-Based Advisory Council provides advice and counsel to the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives on matters affecting the faith community. The IFBAC reviews OFBCI materials for appropriateness and will assist in assuring that OFBCI efforts appeal to a broad range of constituents, and are not inappropriately biased towards any particular faith, region, or interest groups. The IFBAC raises awareness and interpret issues of particular concern to their constituency.

The Faith-based Advisory Council also assists in proposing outreach strategies and communication models to bring greater cooperation between the faith community and state government and assists in planning/promoting annual Governor's Luncheon for Faith Leaders.

Please contact us out the FBCI in your own state for assistance. - TW
